Healthy weight management most often requires a team approach. Weight control is a many-sided challenge.  Whether you are working with a long-standing problem of carrying too much or too little weight, the most effective interventions include group support and family participation.  Regular weekly conference calls may soon be available from NutritionHealth to support you on your weight loss journey.  Please let us know if this is of interest to you.  Also, please visit the recommended resources page for organizations or programs which focus on aspects of body, mind and spirit you may wish to address.

There are as many approaches to losing weight as there are foods.  All approaches which lead to a reduction of body fat are successful because the actively participating person burns more calories as energy than he or she consumes.  Some of the key components found to maintain a healthy weight are:  a commitment to portion control, exercise at a level which is reasonable, comfortable and tolerable, and a willingness to look at some of the social and emotional reasons for over- or under-eating so that those may be adjusted as needed.

We know that even at your present weight, there may be changes to the quality of your diet you can make which will improve your health dramatically.  You may begin seeing changes in your medical laboratory test results immediately.  In addition, significant lab value/health improvements can occur with as little as 5% change in your present body weight.  We strongly encourage you to think about your eating patterns and weight with the "Healthy at Every Size" approach.

Begin the process of maintaining a healthy weight by asking yourself to think about these factors.  When you are ready, please let us know where you would like to start....because "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step".  We are here for you, each step of the way.
